Synopsis

Roald Dahl's Willy Wonka follows enigmatic candy manufacturer, Willy Wonka, as he stages a contest by hiding golden tickets in five of his scrumptious candy bars. Whomever comes up with these tickets will win a free tour of the Wonka factory, as well as a lifetime supply of candy. Four of the five winning children are insufferable brats: the fifth is a likeable young lad named Charlie Bucket, who takes the tour in the company of his equally amiable grandfather. The children must learn to follow Mr. Wonka's rules in the factory... or suffer the consequences.

Character List

  • Willy Wonka Male, 20–50 — Vocal range (G2–F4) A mysterious, charismatic, and slightly sinister chocolatier searching for someone worthy to inherit his candy empire. Enigmatic yet charming, he guides the factory tour with flair. Optional doubling with Candy Man and/or Phineous Trout.

  • Candy Man Male, 20–50 — Vocal range (A2–D4) A cheerful local candy vendor who delights in celebrating the joys of sweets with the children. Warm, energetic, and inviting. Optional doubling with Willy Wonka and/or Phineous Trout.

  • Phineous Trout Male, 20–50 — Vocal range (B2–F4) A lively, upbeat reporter covering the Golden Ticket story. Quick‑witted, engaging, and full of personality. Optional doubling with Willy Wonka and/or Candy Man.

  • Charlie Bucket Male, 9–12 — Vocal range (G2–G4) A humble, earnest boy from a modest home. Honest, curious, and full of wonder. His sincerity ultimately wins Wonka’s heart.

  • Mrs. Bucket Female, 30–45 — Vocal range (Bb3–F5) Charlie’s nurturing, optimistic mother who works tirelessly to keep her family’s spirits high.

  • Mr. Bucket Male, 30–45 — Vocal range (B2–F4) Charlie’s caring father who shares his wife’s hopeful outlook despite the family’s struggles.

  • Grandma Josephine Female, 60–80 — non-singing role. Kind and nurturing, she helps care for Charlie and provides warmth in the Bucket household.

  • Grandpa George Male, 60–80 — non-singing role. Often portrayed as frail with a dry sense of humor. Adds to the quirky, cramped family dynamic.

  • Grandma Georgina Female, 60–80 — non-singing role. Frequently quiet or sleepy, but part of the affectionate (and slightly comedic) group of grandparents.

  • Augustus Gloop Male, 10–15 — Vocal range (B2–G4) A cheerful, gluttonous German boy who prides himself on eating enormous amounts of food. One of the Golden Ticket winners.

  • Mrs. Gloop Female, 35–45 — Vocal range (B3–E4) A plump, jolly German woman who enthusiastically overindulges her son, Augustus.
